This abridged newsreel shows scenes in Delhi, India from September 1947, a month after Independence came to India and Pakistan. The original soundtrack has been reconstructed from pieces that survive. Many of the Muslim refugees encamped for safety in the Purana Kila, the old Mughal fort on the outskirts of Delhi, later settled in Karachi, Pakistan.
